Here is how you check your headlight aim: pull up to a wall and tape along top of the reflection above each headlight. Then pull your vehicle back 25’ – your beam should still be level with the tape on the wall. If you find that your beams are no longer level with the tape on the wall, then they are either pointed too high or too low. For the rest of the process here are the steps to follow: Open your hood, locate the screws for horizontal and vertical adjustment of the headlights of your Chevrolet Suburban (they are in general designated, and those on top must modify the verticality and the one on the side handles the horizontality of the adjustment).
5. Locate the vertical adjuster on the headlamp, then use a 4 mm socket to turn the adjuster either counterclockwise (to adjust up) or clockwise (to adjust down) aligning the upper edge of the light pattern to the horizontal line. 6. Move the opaque cloth to cover the right-hand headlamp and repeat Steps 4 and 5 for the left-hand headlamp. 7.
Guess what guys, the black knob doesn't adjust the vertical aim. I tried that and it doesn't seem to do anything. I noticed another long metal bolt protruding a few inches from the black knob. So I tried turning that one and voila! Now I have perfectly leveled headlight aim. yay! Let's go ahead and start with the SV4. With the SV4, it'll come with an Allen key right out of the box, and then there's also an Allen screw right here on the bulb. All you gotta do is loosen it up. Then you can twist the collar to wherever it needs to go. The Diode Dynamics SL1 is very similar.
Fourth Step: The next step is to turn on your vehicle’s headlights to see where it is aimed at the wall. But before that, you can use a piece of cloth to cover one of the headlights while working on the other. After you turn on the light, you can then compare the beam to the markers you put on the wall and see the difference.
