When set up correctly, they should start at nothing and move to maximum as you push the pedals. If that is not what happens I guess you have them reversed. this may help you restore settings to default values for 1.43 update. for best experience you should have "steam input" enabled. steam > settings > controller > general controller settings. here use options which are relevant for your controller. now start game > open steam overlay and select "controller configuration". ^{Slowly yes.
