1) Run hard (but consistent) to the top of the hill (30-45 seconds, ideally) 2) Jog back down the hill. 3) Pick up your weight, and now hike to the top of the hill. 4) Hike the weight back down to the starting point. 5) Recover for 2 minutes. Repeat the above for desired time or distance.
Look for a certain race (in my case Andorra Beast) Look for elites times in previous editions. Add +1-1.30h depending on your fitness level. If there is a lot of elevation and you are not used to it add another hour. That will give you realistic time estimates. wcm48 • 8 mo. ago.
In my opinion, this year was the most difficult Beast that Big Bear has ever had. Spartan Race had said it was a 12.2 mile course and about 5,200 feet of elevation gain. I clocked it at 13.44 miles with 4,829 feet of gain. No matter which one you believe (I choose my Garmin), it was brutal.

At least 2 hours per week I would spend time doing specific obstacle related exercises like the rope climb, Hercules hoist, 8’ wall traverse, Olympus, spear throw, barbed wire crawl, tire flip, sandbag, and bucket carry; I built all these stations in my backyard! I did the ultra beast in Tahoe. When we asked them about cut off times, they don't give you a straight up answer. Once they need to call it they do.
